The symposium took place on 26-31 August in the ICE Krakow Congress Centre. DioXin 2018 uniquely combined two world-leading associations on this subject: „38th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants” and „10th International PCB Workshop”. The general and long-term goal of the annual symposium is to bring together global experts and provide them with an open, interdisciplinary forum where they can communicate and discuss the results of ongoing research and the latest technologies and developments in all fields of toxic and persistent bromo-, chlor- and fluoroorganic substances polluting the environment, food and humans. The topics of the symposium will include issues in the fields of analysis, epidemiology, legislation, fate in the natural environment, monitoring, prevention, industrial technologies for the protection of the natural environment and workplace, sources, risk assessment and management, biochemistry and toxicology in relation to persistent and pseudo-sustainable organic substances (POPs) and organometallic, contaminating food, feed, the natural environment and the human body.
