The symposium took place from 26 to 31 August at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. DioXin 2018 uniquely brought together two of the world’s leading conferences in this field: the „38th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants” and the „10th International PCB Workshop”. The overall, long-term aim of this annual symposium is to bring together global experts and provide them with an open, interdisciplinary forum, where they can communicate and discuss the results of current research, as well as the latest technologies and achievements in all fields relating to toxic and persistent bromo-, chloro- and fluoro-organic substances that pollute the natural environment, food and humans. The symposium will cover topics in the fields of analytics, epidemiology, legislation, environmental fate, monitoring, prevention, industrial technologies for environmental and workplace protection, sources, risk assessment and risk management, as well as biochemistry and toxicology in relation to persistent and semi-persistent organic compounds (POPs) and organometallic compounds that contaminate food, animal feed, the natural environment and the human body.
