CHEP 2024 – 27th International Conference on Computing in High-Energy and Nuclear Physics

Client: AGH University of Kraków, Jagiellonian University in Kraków
NUMBER OF PEOPLE: 550

From 19–25 October 2024 in Kraków took place 27th International Conference on Computing in High-Energy and Nuclear Physics – CHEP 2024, one of the most important international events dedicated to computing technologies used in high-energy physics and nuclear physics.

The conference was hosted by AGH University of Kraków, the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Jagiellonian University, and COTI Conference Time was responsible for the professional organisational management of the event.

CHEP 2024 brought together over 500 scientists and experts from 33 countries representing 166 institutions. Over the course of the five-day scientific programme, the following took place 20 plenary lectures, over 350 presentations in parallel sessions and over 140 poster presentations.

The conference programme focused on the key challenges facing modern science that utilises big data, in particular on high-performance computing, data processing and analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning, scientific software, computing infrastructure, and technologies developed for high-energy physics experiments, including those conducted at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The main part of CHEP 2024 took place in The Auditorium Maximum at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The conference was also preceded by HSF Training Pre-CHEP Workshop, held on 19–20 October.

Another key part of the event was an open meeting „Discovering Unknown Worlds”, during which the residents of Kraków were able to learn more about CERN, the Large Hadron Collider and the impact of research in the field of high-energy physics on the development of science and new technologies.

The implementation of CHEP 2024 was for COTI Conference Time another major international research project, requiring the coordination of an event for several hundred participants from around the world, comprehensive registration and payment services, collaboration with the organising committee and academic institutions, and logistical and organisational support for the conference.
